TRAIN ITINERARIES
Golden Triangle – Rajasthan; Delhi, Agra & Jaipur; private luxury trains are good on this route.
Green Route – Karnataka; through Bangalore & Mangalore; so-called because very lush; go post-Monsoon.
Mumbai → Delhi – Maharashtra & Rajasthan; “Indian Maharaja-Deccan Odyssey”; will see Maharajah palaces, tiger sanctuary, and Ajanta & Ellora Caves.
Mysore → Vasco da Gama – Karnataka; “Golden Chariot”; will see lesser known areas and palaces but just as impressive as in Golden Triangle; these trains are expensive but worth it - fabulous.
Konkan Railway – Maharashtra; Mumbai to Goa; has Arabian Sea on one side and Sahyadri Mountains on other; train squeezes through mango groves, tiny villages, etc.
Toy Train – West Bengal; Darjeeling-Himalayan Railway.
