Katskhi Pillar – Katskhi; georgiantour.com/chiatura; natural limestone monolith; approximately 130' high, overlooking small river valley of Katskhura; visible church ruins on top surface; remained unclimbed by researchers & unsurveyed until 1944; more systematically studied from 1999-2009; complex currently consists of church dedicated to Maximus Confessor, crypt, 3 hermit cells, wine cellar & curtain wall on uneven top surface; at pillar base are newly built Church of Simeon Stylites & ruins of old wall & belfry; recently deemed inaccessible to public.
